I personally can ride by myself on the Savage for hours and not be uncomfortable on the seat. We do stop every 100 miles for gas and a stretch. Remember, I have had 3 children! My behind, I'm sure, is more padded. The Savage does not do as well in the wind on the interstate as a bigger bike would. I love my Savage by hope to buy a V-Star 1100 in a few years. V-Star for long distance interstate driving and the Savage for everything else. I test drove a Marauder in Daytona. 100 lbs difference from the Savage. It had a small windshield. What a difference the weight of the bike and windshield made. It happened to be very windy at the time. Now I can understand why guys on bigger bikes can just kick back and use highway pegs. I never understood how they could just kick back like that. Weren't they afraid that a gust of wind would come along and they'd lose control. NO! It takes more than that to throw their bike around. I don't want to give up the Savage because it has so much pickup (especially with the Supertrapp) but interstate driving is something else. I never really liked Goldwings. Now I know why people drive them. They may want a different look in a bike also, but when you go cross country why not be comfortable. It also takes time to break in your butt for the season. Was this your first long distance ride of the season? When I rode passenger on my SO's Honda Shadow it took a little while to get my butt in shape for the season.
